AFL/CIO Niagara/Orleans Labor Council hands out awards

Niagara Gazette — Local labor leaders gathered in Lewiston on Wednesday to honor some of their best and brightest. 

During an awards ceremony held at the Lewiston Fire Co. No. 2 hall, members of AFL/CIO Niagara/Orleans Labor Council recognized the hard work and dedication of the members of the local labor movement. 

Guest speakers included Richard Lipsitz, president of the Area Labor Federation, Russ Quarantello, Business Manager for the IBEW Local 237 and newly elected Niagara County legislator Mark Grozio, also of the IBEW Local 237. 

The list of award recipients was as follows: 

• Union Champions at Work Award — Tom Vogt, USW Local 0277, Richard McIntyre, CSEA Local 803, and Richard Lipsitz, President Area Labor Federation, AFL/CIO;

• Earl A. Frampton Community Services Award — Anna Horton, CSEA Local 832;

• Presidents Awards — Maxwell & Murphy Attorneys at Law and Ransomville Speedway.
