Niagara Gazette — Niagara Falls Housing Authority expanding outreach efforts

The Niagara Falls Housing Authority is expanding its outreach network through the use of print, internet, television and social media.

A new Facebook page has been created and a new magazine, Niagara Carrier, is being introduced.

Although the housing authority has published a newsletter for more than 20 years and hosted a popular television show, “People and Possibilities,” Niagara Falls Housing Authority officials said they understand the need to enhance and use other media tools to reach a growing diverse audience.

“Providing our residents with continual information that will help inspire, motivate and connect them to quality of life resources such as employment and educational opportunities are a key part of our commitment,” said Stephanie W. Cowart, executive director of the Niagara Falls Housing Authority, “by expanding our communications methods we hope to actively demonstrate our core message: We empower. We enrich. We build strong communities.”

In addition, the housing authority hopes that by profiling residents’ success stories, providing information about programs and services, and community events will help increase awareness about its communities and the importance of affordable housing.

Cowart said the housing authority is asking that the community and residents visit the new Facebook page for continual updates and read the quarterly news magazine, The Niagara Carrier, which can now be read and downloaded on the Niagara Falls Housing Authority’s website at www.nfha.org.
