'Love letters to Niagara County' sought by NTCC

Niagara Gazette — The Niagara Tourism and Convention Corp. is inviting people to write letters about what — or who — they love in Niagara County.

Letters can be mailed or emailed to NTCC. Submissions will be posted on the Explore Niagara USA blog and on Friday — Valentine’s Day — staff will choose the most heartfelt letter and award the winner a Niagara County themed basket.

“Niagara Falls is known as the honeymoon capital of the world,” said Michelle Blackley, NTCC communications director. “Lots of couples have been married or honeymooned here, so there are plenty of romantic stories.”

Anyone can write letters and share their stories about Niagara County, whether heartwarming or heartbreaking.

“The sky’s the limit as far as these letters go,” Blackley said.

The “Love Letters to Lockport” initiative from Ellen Martin’s Sweet Sixteen cafe was the inspiration for “Love Letters to Niagara USA”. Martin is encouraging visitors to her cafe to type out reasons they love Lockport on a vintage typewriter.

“We thought it would be great if we extended it to the whole county,” Blackley said.

Letters will be accepted through Friday. Letters will be added to the blog as they come in.

The winners prize will include a bottle of wine from Honeymoon Wineries, a DVD of the movie “Niagara” starring Marilyn Monroe, and chocolates and treats from local businesses.

Letters can be mailed to “Love Letters to Niagara USA”, NTCC, 10 Rainbow Blvd, Niagara Falls, NY, 14303, or emailed to ntcc@niagara-usa.com.
