Niagara Gazette — One of my favorite Bible verses for moms is Proverbs 31:28: “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
Mother’s Day is a wonderful way to encourage, bless and appreciate the women who give so much of themselves in raising the next generation. It can also be a lovely time of reflection and love for mothers of all ages.
If your children are very young, please try to appreciate the “effort” and overlook the “imperfection,” if it arises. (Little ones are just learning to express their love). If your kids are “tweens” or teens, acknowledge the people they are becoming, and savor the moments you share, with the realization that they’ll be adults before you know it. If your children are adults and/or are married with children, remember to respect their independent lives and families, and appreciate your role in their lives as “adult to adult” – no longer adult to child. If you now serve as caregiver to an aging mother, please do so with as much dignity, grace and love as possible, remembering that the aging hand you now help down the stairs, once held yours to help you cross the street.
Have a blessed and happy Mother’s Day!Jackie Davis is an inspirational vocalist, musician and speaker with over 20 years of television broadcast experience. You can contact her at email@example.com
