Bernice Bulka

Bernice (Szydlowski) Bulka, 83 of Niagara Falls, NY died Saturday November 24, 2007 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY; the daughter of the late John and Mary (Rataj) Szydlowski. She attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church and was married there on August 24, 1946 to John E. Bulka. She was a former member of the Wanda Polek Society. She worked as a clerk at Power City Bank and Polonia Bakery on Falls St. Bernice enjoyed reading, bingo, crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, John E. Bulka of Niagara Falls, NY; her brother, Chester Szydlowski of Niagara Falls, NY; her sisters: Helen Mazurowski of Lewiston, NY and Cecilia Kokoszka of Niagara Falls, NY; grandchildren, Victor Talarico of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer (Scott) Gaither of Irving, TX, Alisa Talarico of Lewiston, NY; son-in-law Sam Talarico of Lewiston, NY and also several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Bernadette “Bernie” Talarico and her brothers: Joseph and Leon “Leo” Szydlowski.

Friends may call Tuesday November 27 from 3-7 p.m. at Zajac Funeral Home, Inc., 319 24th St. corner of Welch Ave. in Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday November 28 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church, 24th and Niagara St., with the Rev. Slawomir Siok officiating. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum, Lewiston, NY at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church Memorial Fund or Roswell Park Alliance Fund, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240-0631.
