Driver arrested in fatal Lewiston hit-and-run accident

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office and Lewiston Police have arrested Carmen Crapsi, 22, of Lewiston in connection with Saturday morning's hit-and-run accident on Lewiston Road.

The sheriff's office said Crapsi hit the unidentified pedestrian about 5 a.m. and left the scene. He later turned himself in at the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

Crapsi was charged with a felony count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He was arraigned in the Town of Cambria and taken to Niagara County Jail. Bail was set at $2,500 cash/$5,000 bond.

The sheriff's office and Lewiston police are still investigating the accident and further charges may be pending.

Anyone with information related to the accident or the whereabouts of Carmen Crapsi prior to the accident is asked to call the sheriff's office at 438-3393.
